Max, a talented young Dutchman, has a passion for acting and romance. His acting career takes off and he is invited to attend a prestigious theatre course in New York for a year. However, his love life is complicated when he meets Phileine in a park in Utrecht. She plays with his emotions instead of reciprocating his romantic interest and ultimately chooses not to join him in New York. Despite her initial rejection, she later shows up unexpectedly and acts possessively, causing emotional turmoil for everyone involved and leading to a complicated ending.
