As You Desire Me (1932)

Zara is a cafe entertainer in Budapest who suffers from amnesia. Tony Boffie, a portrait painter, recognizes her as Maria, the wife of Count Bruno Varelli. Maria was thought to have died during the Austro-Italian War, but Boffie had painted her portrait around the time of her marriage. Zara decides to return with Boffie to be with Varelli, whom she falls in love with. However, Carl Salter, a novelist who has a hold on Zara, tries to bring another woman to Varelli and convince him that Zara is an imposter, but his plan fails. Despite still not knowing her true identity, Zara remains with Varelli as his wife.
