Merle Oberon (1911 - 1979)

Anglo-Indian actress.

Indian-born British actress who appeared in films in the 1930s and 1940s. She was known for her beauty and acting talent, and appeared in many successful films during her career. Some of Oberon's most notable films include "The Scarlet Pimpernel," "The Divorce of Lady X," and "Wuthering Heights," for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Oberon retired from acting in the 1950s, making some occasional appearances, and died in 1979.
