Heinrich Lutter (played by Götz George) is a jobless locksmith who resides with his two sons, Mike (Markus Knüfken) and Günni (Bastian Trost), in Ehrendfeld, a working-class neighborhood in Cologne, Germany. Both sons require his constant care: Mike has a criminal record and Günni has a lifelong mental disability. Heinrich finds solace and stability in his camper, which he sees as a symbol of freedom and a fulfilling life in Italy. However, the authorities confiscate his beloved vehicle. Despite this setback, Heinrich remains resolute, certain that he obtained the camper through honest means, and determined to achieve his dreams for the future. Mike's opposing beliefs and criminal activities severely test Heinrich's resolve in this emotionally-charged exploration of family, environment, and ethics.
