Die Försterchristl (1952)

It is 1850 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. An uprising against Emperor Franz Josef has been put down, and all rebels, if still alive, have been granted amnesty except for Captain Joseph Foldessy, who is working for Count Graf Paalen under a fake name. He falls in love with Christ'l, the daughter of the Imperial Forester. When the Emperor visits the Count, Christ'l encounters him in the forest and mistakenly detains him for poaching. Foldessy's true identity is revealed to the secret police and he is arrested. Christ'l appeals to a friend she made, whose identity she is unaware of, to get an audience with the Emperor and plead for Foldessy's release. The request is granted and she discovers the true identity of her friend, who then grants a pardon for Foldessy. However, Foldessy assumes Christ'l is having an affair with the Emperor, but the Emperor clarifies the situation.
