Burt Lancaster (1913 - 1994)

Burt Lancaster (1913-1994) was an American actor, known for his commanding presence on screen. He was born in New York City, and began his acting career in the 1930s, appearing in a number of Broadway productions.

In the 1940s, Lancaster made the transition to film, and quickly established himself as a leading man in Hollywood. He appeared in a number of successful films, including "The Killers" (1946), "Sorry, Wrong Number" (1948), and "From Here to Eternity" (1953), for which he received an Academy Award for Best Actor. He was nominated for another three Academy Awards.

Throughout his career, Lancaster was known for his athleticism and physicality, and was often seen performing his own stunts in his films. He was also known for his versatility as an actor, and was able to play a wide range of characters, from tough guys to romantic leads.

Lancaster had a long and successful career in Hollywood, and appeared in over 70 films. He was widely respected by his peers and was known for his dedication to his craft. He was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. He died in 1994 at the age of 80.
