Skinner's Dress Suit (1926)

Reginald Denny, Laura la Plante - Skinner's Dress Suit

Honey Skinner is proud of her successful husband. When he tells her he's asking for a raise, she is confident he will get it. However, when he goes to ask for the raise, their big client announces they will not be renewing their contract. Although he does not get the raise, he doesn't tell his wife the truth, feeling embarrassed. She starts planning how to spend the extra $10 a week, buying new clothes for them to wear to a fancy party. They are a hit at the party and Honey is embraced by the 'smart set.' However, their business is struggling, and Skinner loses his job. The tailor is chasing him for payment on the suit and Honey is still spending money they don't have.
