Barbara Brown, young and beautiful, feels her beauty is a burden. At a New Year's party hosted by Nan Adams, she catches the eye of wealthy J.B. Hardiman and wakes up the next day to find herself the new mistress of his household. At first, she enjoys the luxuries of her new life, but soon confronts Hardiman in his office. However, the situation becomes uncomfortable when he forces himself on her and she discovers her clothing missing. She flees in men's clothes and sets out on an adventure.
