Mexican film actress who was one of the most prominent figures in Hollywood during the 1920s and 1930s. Born in Durango, Mexico, del Río began her career in the Mexican film industry before moving to Hollywood in the early 1920s. She quickly gained fame for her beauty and talent, and appeared in a number of successful films throughout the decade. Del Río was the first Latin American actress to achieve international fame in Hollywood and remains one of the most iconic figures in the history of Mexican cinema.
